Grief counselling in Sevenoaks

Grief can show up in many different ways. You might feel overwhelmed, numb, tearful, irritable, stuck – or simply not yourself anymore. Sometimes the loss is recent and raw; sometimes it’s years old and quietly woven into everyday life.

There’s no right way to grieve – and no timetable you’re supposed to follow. Therapy with me offers a steady, compassionate space to talk about what’s been lost, what’s changed and how you’re coping now. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear goal to begin.

How I can help

I offer grief counselling to adults in Sevenoaks and online. My approach is relational with humanistic and gestalt roots, meaning our work is shaped around you – your experiences, your pace and what feels most important to explore.

Rather than trying to “fix” you or your grief, or push you towards closure, we can gently make space for whatever is present: sadness, anger, relief, fear, guilt, confusion – or something harder to name.

Over time, many people find that being met with care and understanding in therapy allows something to soften or shift.

What brings people to grief counselling

People come to see me for many reasons, including:

  • Bereavement after the death of a loved one

  • Anticipatory grief

  • Loss connected to illness, ageing or changing family roles

  • Relationship endings, separation or divorce

  • Loss of identity, direction or a hoped-for future

  • Feeling stuck or disconnected after a significant change or loss

  • Other forms of complicated or unresolved loss

Grief isn’t only about death. It can also arise when something meaningful ends or changes in a way you didn’t choose.

What sessions are like

Sessions last 50 minutes and take place either in person in Sevenoaks or online. I offer a calm, respectful, non-judgemental space where you don’t have to edit yourself or have to perform being “OK”.

We’ll work collaboratively, checking in regularly about what feels helpful and what you need from the process.
